• Co-localization of receptors does not affect the local concentration of unbound ligand, nor the total number of binding events. Receptor clusters can result in rebinding of ligand to multiple receptors, which means that a smaller fraction of the ligand population accounts for a larger fraction of the receptor/ligand interactions.
